Framed on a research that focuses the mapping of Basic Design in the Portuguese Higher Education, this study looks for its presence and evolutionary line in IADE, a pioneering Design institute, in Portugal. Although Basic Design’s different expressions and formats throughout the institute's half-century existence, the persistence and developing nature of Basic Design allows it for innovation, namely, through the contribution of Virtual Reality-based pedagogical tools.
