The educational context of Fashion Design prepares professionals for the modeling field. This study considered the students' challenges in understanding the traditional methods of geometric modeling based on fragmented teaching and learning processes, centered more on the teacher than on the student; such a scenario is considered an opportunity to improve methods and didactic materials of modeling clothes. The article aims to present principles of cognitive ergonomics, information design and visual language to support the development of teaching materials for teaching clothing modeling. As research procedures were used the narrative literature review to raise, organize and analyze the relevance of integrating these principles to generate satisfactory teaching materials. The results point to principles of cognitive ergonomics, information design and visual language applied to the planning of didactic materials for modeling clothes. The human processing system is the basis for organizing means of communication that stimulate perception, attention, memories and decision-making throughout educational, personal and professional life. Adaptation to visual culture requires the systematization of information and visual.
