Abstract

Medellín, during the last fifteen years, underwent a process of urban and social transformation that aroused interest all over the world. It ceased to be an "invisible" place, after being considered one of the most violent cities of the planet, to become a reference or meeting point for the processes of inclusion and innovation. But the analysis of the Medellín's experience that could be useful for other cities with similar conditions, must be done with caution, having the awareness that it is a process that is just beginning, in a social context still of great inequality and in a territory with huge environmental threats. This paper presents some of the strategies and undertaken actions in this process of urban and social reform.

Keywords: Medellín; social urbanism; inclusion.
