The technological transformations impact society in a significant and disruptive way in areas such as social and behavioral. In light of that evolution, this study aims to point the difficulties faced in the usage of social and digital medias by the elderly. The target audience is made by participants from Núcleo de Estudos da Terceira Idade (NETI), bound to Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). A quantitative research characterized as descriptive was made, and the tools to gather data were interviews semi-structured, followed by an integrative literature review and the application of a questionnaire. The results showed that the elderly use social and digital medias in the interaction with family and friends, however, there are challenges to be overcome. Based on the results, a 30 hours course in good practice on the usage of social network was proposed to the NETI students on the hybrid modality. Despite the presencial classes, additional activities were made available via a Whatsapp group. At the end of the course, a questionnaire was administered in order to obtain feedback from the students, and, based on that data, a manual with the basic processes on the usage of social media was offered. The Whatsapp group mentioned above remains active in order to continue the knowledge exchange, as well as to fortify the network.
