Abstract

This paper studied plus size fashion, entering in sloper pattern making tied to the anthropometry and ergonomics of clothing for the plus size female market. The general aim was to get to know the plus size market’s profile and needs, in order to build a set of toiles made of woven fabric. To do that, we carried out a literature review on the guiding themes. Next, we administered an online questionnaire, and the data collected from the 18 female answerers was compiled and analyzed. In addition, we made a research on plus size measurement charts, and we took measurements from two real life models and a size 48 technical mannequin (Brazilian size standard). Based on the data collected, and on the measurements analyzed, we developed skirt, bodice and pants toiles, which were fitted and altered according to the needs. Results were satisfactory, and with them, we understood the importance of studying the target market’s needs and real measurements, in order to build adequately fitted garments to plus size women.
