Abstract

The research aims to explore the deficits pointed out recently by the Brazilian media about the "pistol PT 840, produced by Taurus", the main tool used by public security agents in the country. From this, ergonomic and design techniques were used to thoroughly investigate usability problems, also raising the perception of the agents on their pistols. At the end, it was pointed out the main flaws and the profiles of agents that show more dissatisfaction with the Taurus PT 840.

Professora Adjunta da Universidade Federal do Maranhão. É coordenadora do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Design PPGDg - UFMA, Doutora em Design pela Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" - UNESP - Bauru. É Mestre em Design, pela mesma instituição. É Bacharel em Desenho Industrial, com habilitação em Projeto de Produto, pela Universidade Federal do Maranhão - UFMA. Atua na Linha de Pesquisa Design: ergonomia e usabilidade de produtos e sistemas.
