THE TAXONOMY OF THE ONLINE NEWSPAPER ‘O DIA’

This work aims to contribute, through a case study of a Brazilian newspaper, for the development of scientific literature related to online newspaper design. This research analyzes the information architecture of O Dia website, investigating the mental model of readers/users as well as the organization and grouping of information. Methods and evaluation techniques come from disciplines that address informati on architecture, ergodesign and user experience (UX). The article devoted much of its attention to the description of card sorting application method and analysis. This research has found problems in the existing taxonomy on O Dia news paper's website concerning location and retrieval of information. It was identified a lack of clarity in the website labels, as well as ambiguities and inconsistencies.Downloads
